Superbar on FlyFM
A bit of a correction here about Superbar’s interview on FlyFM. We’ll be on air this Sunday 7-8PM, with a repeat on Tuesday at 12AM (*that’s Monday 11.59PM in case ur wondering). Basil from FlyFM will be counting down the Top 10 songs from the local scene and with your votes “Same Way I Do” just might make its way into the charts. Will be posting some pictures from the interview. In the meantime, stay tuned to 95.8FM!
We’re on Oxygen Magazine
We did an interview for Oxygen Magazine a couple of weeks ago and it’s now out at your nearest bookstore. Here’s a little snippet off the interview.

1) In five words, describe yourself.
Suren: Don’t take us too seriously
Sen Kiat: Your new favourite band. Please.
Chak: We’re not gay, we’re metro
2) Do you consider yourselves metro by nature? If you are, to what extent?
Suren: On a scale of 1 – 10 (10 being “queer eye for the straight guy material”), I’d give us a 5. On our best days, we’d probably score a 6.
Sen Kiat: Yea, well I like shoes. Possibly more than women. And if that makes me “metro”, so be it. I only started using facial cleanser 4 years ago after I got some tips from a gay colleague.
Chak: Yea, I had tips from a gay colleague as well. Thus the new-found fetish for shoes. Although I still wear crocs once in a while to tell people I’m straight. No gay would be caught dead in beige crocs. And no, Sen Kiat is the only member who prefers shoes over women.
3) Who do you think is the most metro among you guys?
Suren: Sen Kiat. We all aspire to be him.
Chak: ‘Cept for the shoes over women thing
Superbar EP is Out

Superbar CDs are out, come get your copy at our gig or from any of us personally. Our EP has five songs:
- Dreams
- Out of Body
- Same Way I Do
- Rollercoaster
- Worth a Bet
Produced by Greg Henderson, co-produced by Sen Kiat and Chak.
The album cover depicts all of us trapped inside a room, trying to push our way through a door. Hence the title, “Someone Open The Door an Let Me Outta Here”
In a few days you’ll also be able to download the songs from our website by joining as a member, and you’ll also get access to all our demos, home recordings and more.
No Action So Far

My precious Epiphone Les Paul Custom is not seeing much action. Not even a scratch.
Since I got it in June, only played it in the studio once, and once for the AF gig. We’ve been having a hard time recently just trying to get together for practice.
But tomorrow, my baby’s going to see some action again. Hehehe…
The Simpsons by Zack Kim
This is exactly the kind of stuff that makes me wish I played the harmonica instead.
Zack Kim is way beyond crazy.
La Bodega video
Now this came as a pleasant suprise. We came across a video of our La Bodega show on YouTube. (actually we first discovered it from a blog of one of the fans). We’ll also be putting up some videos of the show soon, as Dinesh managed to get the whole gig on video cam.
We’ve gotten a lotta rave comments about the show we played at La Bodega, including this one that was posted in one of the blogs. Read more about it here.
But i think of all the performance, i loved Superbar’s set. Their first song was awesome man. I got it on video and i feel like kicking myself for not recording the whole song. Now i’ve got it on loop for like …… 100 times. Anybody knows the name of the song in the video and if they’re coming up with an album cause so far i don’t think i’ve seen any superbar albums yet. Check it out! I simply loved the arrangements. 3 on guitar and one on bass.
We got a slot at this year’s Fete de la Musique as a result of this gig. Will talk more about it soon.
The Making Of Superbar’s EP
Since we’re on a low budget and cant afford the lights and camera, we’ll just give you the action. Prepare yourself for the making of Superbar’s top hits album, aka our first EP, aka “Someone Open The Door and Let Me Outta Here”
These are all photos that didn’t make it to our EP cover.
I think this picture’s so cool.. but we had to remove it when a government rep complained that we were ripping off the image of Central Market / Puduraya maestros.
Do I really have to tell you why this pic didn’t make it?
We were rejected from Malaysian Idol. Background music: “I’m going home….to the place where I belong..”
Chak: “Ah… this feels good!”
Superbar’s official car, the Superbaru..
“Eh bang, rokok ade?” - government said we were portraying a vivid impression of Malaysian youth. They preferred a picture of us in the library or chasing butterflies in the garden. But since this is Visit Malaysia Year 2007, and we didn’t want to lie, this one had to go.
Chak: That was awesome. Was it good for you?
Suren: Erm, ok lah can also. I’ve had better..
Chak to The Future
Michael J Fox plans to sue us for using his image to near perfection.
This pic is taken from our Singapore gig. Why did I only put it up after 3 months?
Cos I’m lazy ok? Got a problem with that?
Perfect music for all occasions
That’s how the first online review of “Someone open a door and let me outta here!” by Mr. Spanky went. We’ve been passing copies around through friends & friends of friends and we’ve heard some good comments so far.
Disclaimer: Mr Spanky is actually a dear friend of ours who has been to most of our gigs and has doubled as group’s unofficial photographer when Alan’s not around. You rock man!
