Rock Safe at KL Jam Asia

We were recently invited to perform at a fund-raising event organized by Taylor’s College called Rock Safe. The gig was part of a series of events to send out a clear message that drugs aren’t cool. The turn out was pretty good and Jam Asia was packed to the brim. The line up of bands was excellent as well, with big names like Tempered Mental playing alongside newcomers FYPK.

Heineken Thirst Studio 2006 - we’re finalists!

Last Monday was a pretty big turning point for the band. Chak got a call saying we made it to the next round of Heineken Thirst Studio 2006. Only 10 acts, 4 rock bands & 6 dance acts made it, and the winner gets to fly to London to work with Paul Epworth (produced Bloc Party’s Silent Alarm). So, all the hard work we put in over the past 2 weeks (playing a couple of shows as well as trying to get some tracks recorded) was put to a final test last Monday night (8pm) at a closed audition at Zouk.

By around 11pm, everyone had performed in front of the judges and they had shaved the list from ten to six, knocking out 2 bands & 2 dance acts in the process. After the final results were announced at about 1.30 am, Cosmicspacemunkys came out on top and will be flying to London to work with Epworth and we finished as finalists along with fellow family band, Lied. Lied put on an absolutely rocking show that night.

As finalists, we’ll be performing at the Heineken Thirst Studio Perform event, Zouk on September 8th. On top of that, we’ll also be working with an acclaimed local producer in the next couple of weeks. We’re pretty psyched right now cos things are looking fucking awesome for the band at the moment. There are a couple of more announcements on the way, but we’ll keep them to ourselves for the time being.

Some coverage on the event here and here.

Ok folks!! Photos are up now. These photos were taken by one of our bigger fans, Alan from the band FYPK. (We’re playing a gig with them on 12 August at Taylor’s College) There’s more pictures on Laundry’s Official Blog.
